Recently I've been asked by the Galpin Society Journal to compile an article on the export trade from England to Colonial America. Research is ongoing and has revealed a number of remarkable sources (including a substantial list of adverts), some very useful contacts in field archaeology and, of course, Fred Crane is his normal supportive self. Checking the JHG website I came across Fred's Texas Colonial trump (photo Andrew Verley), so wondered if anyone else has come across anything similar - particularly photo's or drawings. Also, One of my contacts has asked a very interesting question. There is substantial evidence that Jew’s harps were traded with the Native Americans from early days, but we know very little about how they were used. Does anyone know of any verifiable sources? They could be post-Colonial (Lewis & Clark?), provided they give some indication of how they fitted into the local culture. Due acknowledgement will, of course, be given to anything published.
